Room 317, Sunday afternoon

Claudia's side of the room had been even more taken over with random electronics than usual. She was about halfway through putting together an intelligent light for the new theater director, and kept having to reign herself in from trying to make it too complicated. It was hard enough getting everything lined up in a reasonably compact casing without trying to throw in an excess of pattern storage. Turned out, manipulating light was kind of hard.

She'd probably welcome an interruption at this point, before her brain exploded.

And it wasn't like his dad was going to brave an airport in his wheelchair. He hated travelling.

"Cool, so Saturday then? A date at the junkyard." Maybe if he said date enough, it'd make him stop feeling nervous.

"A romantic evening by the rusted out wrecks." Yeah, still sounded weird. This would take some getting used to.

"You can put that on the poll too," he decided and squeezed her hand lightly.

"This sounds like it's becoming kind of an elaborate poll, dude."

"I don't do things halfway," he smirked at her.

"Next you'll be telling me the date may be recorded for quality control purposes."

"Nah, not the first date," he should his head. "Maybe the second one."

"So we're already planning on making this a regular thing, then."

"No, I mean... Maybe, if it's fun and you don't end up wanting to kill me? We could consider it? Or not, it's... we can see?"

Oh god, he had a big mouth.

"I might suck at dating?" he suggested.

"I'm not sure I'd know," Claudia admitted. "I've never actually been on a date-date before."

"I think generally if you don't have a good time, keep thinking the guy is boring or you want to sneak out through the restroom window? That means it sucked," he told her.

"Oh, well, you know, I feel like that all the time when we hang out."

Jake raised an eyebrow and started pulling his hand back. "Well, in that case I should probably go, huh?"

Claudia rolled her eyes and tugged his hand back. "You moron." She leaned forward to give being the one to kiss him a try.

"Thanks," he smirked, but that was about all she was getting from him as he didn't mind letting her explore the whole kissing him a try. For all he cared, she could do that as many times as she liked.
